Is it a plane? Is it a bird? No it's super dog!

I'm sure that the first question that comes to mind in seeing this 'dog in a cape' is "What is his superpower?" Good question!

Well the obvious answer is the superpower of cuteness. But, the less obvious is the superpower to change the life of a person. Cody, a guide dog in training, will eventually be the eyes for a visually impaired Texan. But this superpower is so strong it is already affecting the lives of those around him - namely Keith and myself.

With the loss of our 20 year old cat, our  11 year old Great Dane and our daughter going off to a University; last summer Keith and I were catapulted into a new season -- the season called 'the empty nest'. No more hugs throughout the day from Roxanne, no more sloppy kisses from our Great Dane, no more demands from the princess Pepper (our cat). Oh the empty nest drama...

But now Cody has come into our family bringing not only hugs and kisses but o'vey life! Bouncy, energetic, sweet life. And God is using him every day to teach me something about His Word and His love.

This little Heartbeat from Heaven reminds me that one can make a difference. But than remembering Jesus' words, this is no surprise:

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden...  (Matthew 5:13-14)

One can make a difference.

God said in Ezekiel 22:30, "I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one."

“I am only one, but I am one. I can't do everything, but I can do something. The something I ought to do, I can do. And by the grace of God, I will.” Edward Hale.
